Despite a crazy NC snowstorm, in which about 8" fell, we still got out there and shoveled so I could shoot. We got some good shots for both eBay and for Etsy. Some custom pieces, some fun pieces. Our objet d'art, if you will.
Got to spend a good amount of time on the website. Should be up by next weekend. Yeah! www.brandmojointeriors.com.
And as a damn yankee, it finally occurred to me today why things shut down here when it snows like that: not nearly enough snow plows.
Snow, snow, everywhere there's snow. Snow, snow, everywhere there's snow.

Words as sharp as metal
I wanted to post these shots I did for Muddy River Ironworks in Iowa. This was a fun shoot as I just took the items around and set them up. They're on Etsy.

I have seen some artists shoot items in books. My hubby loves Edgar Allen Poe and I thought the rose was a lovely, yet eerie compliment to Poe's prose, especially with Valentine's Day coming.

Still functions
Saw some Etsy sellers today selling old cameras today. There are some really classic ones for sales, even some really desirable ones, too. A very clean Polaroid Land Camera with the pretty brown leather on it + carrying case. I have a collection of old cameras, and sad to say, most are in a box. I bought them for decor, but loved when I could still shoot with them. Need a medium format camera? Shoot an old Kodak brownie from early 1900s. Takes 120 film. I have some shots I took in Florida with one, they are all rough and rusty in their look and feel.
Some of the other cameras were not that old. Not sure if I personally would call a Nikon N70 a "vintage" camera. Can still shoot with it. But to each his own. I even entertained the idea to sell mine, too, but not sure if it is worth it for only $10 or $20. I suppose I could use that to jump start my own Etsy page. I would rather get my images up there. Who knows. If only there was more time in the day.
But this brought to mind something unique. If these cameras still function, aren't we in essence tossing out the potential for art in exchange for knick-knacks? What do photo students shoot with now? Remember when everyone had a K-1000? Mine was the Canon AE-1. And as I have mentioned, some of my favorite shots were with that. Oh, and let's not neglect the way my Minolta Hi-Matic (when it functioned) shot black & whites. Oh so crisp. That camera was meant to shoot b&w. No matter how I try to manuever photoshop and lightroom to adjust my shots to get it to appear b&w, it never looks the same. I am sure part of that is user error(if you want to call it error). It begs that question though.

What was once thriving
Took two tables to Ward St today for a shoot. Amazing building. There once was a thriving furniture area there. Now, boards, trash, and For Lease signs. Would be a great place for us to start something: gated, cops patroling the area, large space. No windows though.
Used to be a Ralph Lauren showroom and Betty something, too. What was interesting was the door to Betty Boop's place. Gorgeous, as you will see in these images, but was made with plywood. They must have known that shop wasn't meant to last. High Point has the potential, but needs an awful lot to get moving again, save for those two times a year.
Those two times a year when the fuzz clears the streets of the realities that are there the other 10 months of the year. But it is real. It is gritty, but real. Safe, but you still need to not go there alone.
I haven't yet fixed up the photos that I will post with this tomorrow. But I think I got a few good ones. We will use these for Etsy and website. [Yep, a few good ones...]
Until then.

Blast from the past
Had a chance to compile some images of shots I did for an independent jewelry designer in Portland, OR. Impressive for a Nikon Coolpix. I wonder what my D90 could do...

Well, here we go...
The foray into blogging begins. One more thing to keep us busy and getting brandMOJO out there. This is my blog, for my images. Some will be of bMI of course. Wish me luck.
